Synchronizing

As before, all the work you do with CPAexcel Online is stored on CPAexcel's servers. Now with an installed version of CPAexcel you may also study offline. Synchronization keeps both versions loaded with your most current progress.

Among the benefits of frequent syncing:

1. Syncing frequently will keep your software up to date by notifying you when new courseware or software enhancements are available.
2. Syncing allows CPAexcel to gather statistics anonymously. We use these anonymous statistics to improve the software and provide useful information that helps guide your study strategy e.g. the 'Average Total Study Time for All Students' in the Lesson Overview may help determine how long you spend on a particular lesson.
3. Syncing allows the Seminar Instructors to view your grades.
4. Syncing frequently ensures you always have a recent backup of all your work.

CPAexcel Offline will install a version of the database that can be accessed when an internet connection is unavailable. This database contains all your courseware and stores the scores you record as you study.

CPAexcel Online works directly with the main CPAexcel database and stores all your scores directly on the CPAexcel servers.

Available from the Scores menu of CPAexcel Offline, the Synchronization tool will send the information you accumulated offline to the CPAexcel servers. There, your offline information will be compared and contrasted with any scores and times recorded from a previous Online session or Synchronization. The CPAexcel.com database will organize all the information and send both the Online and Offline versions a single, updated record containing all your exam results, study times and history. The entire process takes only a few seconds.

CPAexcel recommends that students Synchronize at the beginning and end of each study session. Among the benefits of frequent syncing:

1. Each time CPAexcel Offline performs a sync, it checks for content and software updates. Your software will stay up to date by notifying you of new courseware or software enhancements as soon as they become available.
2. Syncing allows CPAexcel to gather statistics anonymously. We use these statistics to improve the software and provide useful information that helps guide your study strategy e.g. the 'Average Total Study Time for All Students' in the Lesson Overview may help determine how long you spend on a particular lesson.
3. Syncing allows the Seminar Instructors to view your grades.

Syncing two instances of CPAexcel Offline is as easy as 1,2,3:

1. Run a Synchronize with 'computer A' to upload your most recent work to the online database and your CPAexcel Online.
2. Run a Synchronize with 'computer B' to upload your most recent work to the online database and your CPAexcel Online. This will also download the information you just added with computer A.
3. Back on computer A , run a sync one more time. You now have the same scores in all three places; CPAexcel Offline on both computer A and computer B, and on your CPAexcel Online.
